HELPING DEVELOP FRIENDSHIPS

LADIES  Fishing is a group of ladies who enjoy fishing. They are not a club so do not charge a membership fee,  they arrange trips and divide the cost between the number of women on the trip and there’s no commitment to attend regularly.

The group normally has six to 12 women per trip, keeping the numbers down ensures everyone gets the chance to have individual one to one tuition (if required), and there is equipment for women to use free of charge.

Ladies Fishing hold fly tying days for salmon, grayling, trout, pike. They will be focusing on the classic salmon fly with renowned fly dresser Paul Little in March.

The group offers the opportunity to develop fishing friendships with other females, and understand that women juggle busy lives and have many commitments.

Not from our area but…

CONTINUING our reports from fisheries outside our area here is the latest from England international angler and owner of Seighford Lakes, Phil Dixon:

With the milder weather coming in this week, we haven't had problems with the lakes freezing over and the standard of fishing has been good.

Best bag of trout this week went to Chris Jones who, fishing a floating line, landed seven fish, mostly on Damsels off the Swan Neck Pool.

Local angler Jock caught and released the week's best fish - an 8lb 2oz rainbow - also off the Swan Neck Pool.

The next stocking of fish will be coming in this week with 100 fish going into each pool and a further 100 fish going in the holding pen to be stocked later.

The stocking policy at Seighford Lakes is to put in nothing under 3lb with fish running well into double figures.
